We work with a range of raw natural materials in different ways, in reality most homes and methods use a combination of materials. Understanding the nature of materials, how and where to use them, what their strengths are, and how to create warm, dry beautifully functional homes is our passion.
Earth
Building from the stuff under our feet which is plentiful and sustainable, here we are talking about aggregates of stone and sand, combined with natural binders like clay and lime. Thermal mass, structure and durability are their key benefits

Straw bale building and other construction methods using natural fibres provides high insulation value while sequesting carbon and making use of a by-product of farming.

Understanding different species of wood to provide structure, natural durability, and aesthetic appeal while sequesting carbon make working with this renewable resource very rewarding.
Natural Plasters
Natural plasters look and feel amazing, help maintain good indoor air quality, humidity and temperature and can be done over conventional or natural materials, new builds or renovations.
Clay Based
Clay based plasters are suitable for interior finishes and feature walls. Soft and alluring to the touch with a range of different finishes from polished and sleek to textured and rustic. They also have multiple health benefits including absorbing toxins and regulation of indoor air quality.
Lime Based
Able to be used as exterior finishes and in interior wet areas. Lime has a timeless quality and durability offering a mould resistant wipeable surface that even reabsorbs CO2 in it's curing process.
Sculpted
Both Clay and lime plasters are materials with endless creative potential. Colour, texture, sculpting and carving can create stunning one off feature walls, niches, and artistic built in features that Da Vinci would be proud of!
